SAF in collaboration with Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows team management has a certification coach program that address barriers to participation in continuing education and training.  The program is designed to meet the needs of coaches at various stages of professional development, that includes:

  1. Squaw Valley  Alpine Meadows-based training clinics and accreditation that blends PSIA and USSA Level 1 and 100 curriculum, and are segmented into groups by age and level of team athletes that a coach works with; and,
  2. Upper level PSIA and USSA coach training and professional development courses and travel.
SAF/SVAM Coach Certification Program has $45,000 worth of funds available for the 2017/18 ski season to advance 100 coaches.  The SAF coach scholarship application and details are available on Scholarships / Coaches Page.

Ron Kipp of the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadow snow sports team is the coaches education and development manager.  Kipp is working with the ski team coaches to continue to develop, augment, and enhance their coaching skills.  He was previously with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) where he was the Alpine Sport Education Manager and presided over all aspects of alpine coach education and certification.
