Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski Team awarded Gold Certification from USSA

Education Picture

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski Team and the SAF are very proud to be recognized by USSA as one of the top teams in the country with this distinction.   Thank you to all our members for your continued support of our athletes, teams, and community.

A prolific club over the years with record participation, the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski Team wrapped up the USSA certification process in the fall of 2014. This involved a continued effort with leadership from both the corporation, Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, Inc. and the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Foundation (SAF). The SAF and the partnership between the Foundation and the resorts’ programs were determined to be vital to the continued success of the teams and the communities they represent.

The USSA certification process not only recognizes club excellence, but also gives a clear roadmap for all clubs to become stronger organizations. The process to achieve podium level certification, especially Gold, is not easy. Clubs and their supporting Foundations that reach this goal set a great example for other Clubs and are leading the charge for club improvement nationally.

Our Performance Center is up and and running!

Fitness Center

Our Fitness Program is engineered towards creating championship caliber athletes. The program addresses the health-fitness components needed to limit injury, and to create a strong work ethic for each athlete on and off the snow. The work ethic will focus the individual athlete on their personal development as well as reinforce the “TEAM” aspect needed for success in this sport and on the Squaw Valley Ski Team.

Our Performance Center is off and running now. We have acquired a number of very helpful additions to our ever developing Performance Program. Below is a list of newly added equipment to the Performance Center:

  • 3 Spin Bikes
  • 2 Rowing Machines
  • 2 Glut/Ham Machines
  • 2 Indo Boards and Indo Balls
  • Medicine Balls
  • 30+ Yoga Mats
  • 6 Thera Band Balls
  • 9 Jump Ropes
  • Hurdles
  • Foam Rollers

We have set our sights high in our Sports Performance Center on what we would like to create for our Athletes. We have received overwhelming support in our efforts to create this championship environment. We have future needs as far as equipment and equipment space is concerned, below is a list of much needed additions to our efforts:

  • Squat Rack
  • Olympic Platform
  • Bench
  • Dumbbells or Kettles
  • Slackline
  • Smith Machine

We are very proud of the program we were able to put together with the great support from Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows and SAF but we do not feel that we have accomplished our mission. The ultimate goal of a complete team and Sports Performance Program will need the continued support from all facets. If we can continue to build from what we currently have, in addition to the above we will have a large interest from former SV/AM athletes and current World Cup athletes to return home to train. Athletes like Marco Sullivan, David Wise and Travis Ganong will be able to train with our athletes in the off season. We are so excited to be able to resource amazing athletes like these by beginning to offer a true and complete program. Thank you very much to SAF and Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows for helping us get to where we are.

The Performance Center is open to scheduled use by all SV|AM full-time competitive teams. Team scheduling and walk-through’s can be arranged by phone at 530-452-7205 or email
